Akai Ito ~ Red Sting ~
Akai Ito is the culminating exhibition of my two-month residency at Studio Kura in Fukuoka. The work is deeply inspired by the spiritual elements and creatures found in Shintoism, as well as Japanese folklore. Central to the exhibition is the concept of the Red String of Fate, an ancient belief that symbolizes the invisible thread connecting people and events destined to intertwine. This myth suggests that no matter how much time passes or how far apart individuals may be, the string will eventually bring them together. Through this exhibition, I explore the profound connections that transcend time and space, reflecting on the inevitability of encounters, relationships, and the interwoven nature of existence. The works invite viewers to contemplate fate, spirituality, and the unseen forces that guide us toward the people and experiences meant to shape our lives.
